Country更多的指一个国家山川大地等自然特征，强调“疆土、土地”概念。

3、State
State (polity), anorganizedcommunity living under a single political structure and government, sovereign orconstituent
State指的是一个国家的“政府、政权”。
E.g.The state does not collect enough revenue to cover its expenditure.
该国政府入不敷出。
E.g. A state has its obligations to protect people.
政府有义务保护它的人民。
所以，总而言之，虽然同是“国家”, country是地理和国土上的概念；nation是从民族和国民层面上而言；而“state”是政治和政权上的意思。我们和“nation”, “country”之间是先天的，自然的纽带关系，我们爱国，这是一种淳朴的感情。而我们和“state”之间则是契约的关系，我们让渡一些权利，组成政府，由其提供公共服务来保护和服务我们。
